What is a waste transfer note?
A waste transfer note is a record showing that your waste was passed to a registered waste carrier and describes what it was — the paperwork that proves your legal duty of care was met.
Under UK law, anyone who produces household or business waste has a "duty of care" to make sure it is handled and disposed of properly. When a registered carrier takes your waste away, they should give you a waste transfer note describing the waste and confirming the handover.
This matters because, if your waste is later fly-tipped, you can be fined even if someone else dumped it — unless you can show you passed it to a licensed carrier. The transfer note is your proof. It is especially important for house clearances, office clear-outs and rubbish removal.
Signature is a waste carrier registered with the Environment Agency. We take waste to authorised facilities, separate recyclables where practical, and provide a waste transfer note for every clearance so your duty of care is covered.
